Piernas Posts Season-Best Time in 500 Free at NEISDA Championships; Swimming and Diving Sit Seventh

KINGSTON, R.I. –  Simmons swimming and diving sits in seventh place with a total of 221 points following day two of the NEISDA championships on Friday.

Junior distance swimmer Eva Piernas began the day with a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a season-best time of 5:30.12. Fellow teammates, first-year Emma Serth clocked in with a time of 5:44.30, while junior Sophie Stevenson touched the wall with a time of 6:07.48.

In the 100-yard butterfly, first-year Ella Harmon came seven hundredths of a second shy of posting a personal-best. Touching the wall with a time of 1:02.11, Harmon finished fifth, behind a trio of Stonehill swimmers and the event champion, Noelle Schneider from Roger Williams University. Sophomore Caroline Mazariegos rounded out the Sharks registering a time of 2:21.88 in the 200-yard backstroke.
