Piernas Places First in the Mile Race; Swimming and Diving Finishes Fourth Overall at Seven Sisters

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Junior Eva Piernas claimed first place in the mile to begin day two of the 2022 Seven Sisters Invitational, touching the wall with a time of 19:22.39. Simmons swimming and diving finished fourth collecting a total of 514.5 points over the course of the two-day meet.

After posting a personal-best time in the 50-yard freestyle (26.32) on day one, first-year Hailey Stuck recorded another individual top time in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 58.87. Senior Lauren Howard finished fifth in the 100 free with a time of 56.74. First-year Ella Harmon posted a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 2:27.27.

The Sharks 400-yard freestyle relay A-squad of Caroline Mazariegos, Emma Serth, Hailey Stuck, and Lauren Howard, closed out the meet with a third-place finish, touching the wall with a time of 3:58.18.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Eva Piernas finished first in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:22.39.
  • First-year Hailey Stuck posted a pair of personal-bests over the two-day meet: 50-yard free (26.52) and the 100-yard free (58.87).
  • Senior Lauren Howard recorded two second place finishes: 50-yard free (25.68) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.41).
  • Junior Meg Driscoll registered a personal-best time in 200 IM on day one with a time of 2:25.08.
