Swimming and Diving Sits Fourth after Day One of Seven Sisters Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Returning to the pool for the first time in 2022, Simmons swimming and diving registered a total of 368.5 on day one of the Seven Sisters Invitational on Saturday. The Sharks currently sit in fourth place, trailing Division I Merrimack College by 68 points for third place.

Simmons relay squads performed exceptionally well on day one. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Emma Serth, Jordan Bradford, Eva Piernas and Caroline Mazariegos opened the day collecting 28 points, touching the wall with a time of 1:50.14. The Sharks B relay (Lauren Kenney, Madi Baer, Katie Castle, Sophie Stevenson) clocked in at 2:05.55. 

The Sharks saw a pair of swimmers finish in the top four of the 100-yard backstroke to collect points. Senior Lauren Howard placed second touching the wall less than one second after Wellesley's Marisa Papagelis, with a time of 1:05.41. First-year Camelia Hannah beat out Mount Holyoke's Anais Magner for fourth place by a hundredth of a second, clocking in at 1:07.01.  

Junior Meg Driscoll posted as season-best time in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in 2:25.08, while first-year Ella Harmon was right behind with time of 2:25.86. Harmon also recorded a season-best time in the 50-yard butterfly, clocking in at 28.53.

Simmons closed out the final day with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The Sharks A-relay squad (Hannah, Driscoll, Harmon, Howard) placed third with a time of 2:00.89, while the quartet of Eva Piernas, Emma Serth, Hailey Stuck, and Lauren Howard helped the Sharks finish fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

  • First-year Ella Harmon posted a season-best time in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.53.
  • Junior Meg Driscoll registered a season-best time in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall with a time of 2:25.08.
  • Senior Lauren Howard finished second the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.41.
  • First-year Ella Harmon posted a season-best time in the 50-yard butterfly (28.53).
  • Simmons A-relay in the 200-yard medley secured third place with a time of 2:00.89.
  • Junior Eva Piernas finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:38.24.
