Driscoll, Hannah Help Swimming and Diving Overpower the University of New England

BOSTON – Simmons swimming and diving defeated the University of New England, 167-95, on Saturday afternoon. The Sharks took home 13 of 14 individual event titles. 

The Sharks came out of the gate strong registering a season-best time in the 200-yard medley relay. Simmons' A-relay squad of Camelia Hannah, Meg Driscoll, Ella Harmon, and Lauren Howard touched the wall in 1:58.96. The Sharks B-squad (Caroline Mazariegos, Jordan Bradford, Lauren Kenney, Emma Serth) also collected points, placing third.

Junior Meg Driscoll posted season-best time in the 50-yard breaststroke and 100-yard IM. In the 50 breast, she touched with a time of 34.52, while in the 100 IM, she beat out UNE's Olivia Roy by two seconds, clocking in with a time of 1:07.06.

First-year swimmer Camelia Hannah saw a pair of top-times this season come down. Hannah secured first-place in the 50-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 30.33 – two seconds ahead of teammate Jordan Bradford. Midway through the meet, Hannah eclipsed her time in the 100-yard backstroke, besting UNE's Haley Griffin by one second, with a time of 1:05.94.

Simmons closed out its first home meet of the year, taking first and second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Sharks A-squad (Mazariegos, Serth, Stuck, Howard) clocked in at 1:47.06, while the B-squad (Piernas, Perconti, Bradford, Harmon) finished in 1:53.33.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Meg Driscoll posted season-best times in the 50 breast (34.52) and the 100 IM (1:07.66).
  • First-year Camelia Hannah eclipsed top times in the 50- and (30.33) and 100- (1:05.94) yard backstroke.
  • Junior Eva Piernas registered season-best times in the 500- (5:34.12) and 1,000- (11:22.74) yard free.
