WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons University's Laura List (Bedford, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for the week of November 11-17, it was announced today by the league. 

List's honor marks the fifth time a Simmons student-athlete has been named in six reporting periods. Senior Áine Scholand (Albuquerque, N.M.) has been tabbed twice for the weeks of October 14-20 and October 28 to November 3, while junior Sara Manjikian (Belmont, Mass.) has also earned the accolade twice for the periods of October 21-27 and November 4-10. 

List won both of her individual events and helped the Sharks win a relay as well in the team's 185-77 victory over host University of New England in Biddeford, Maine on November 9. The senior touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.67, before turning in a winning mark of 28.38 to claim victory in her first career entry in the 50-yard butterfly. The Bedford High School graduate opened the meet by swimming the freestyle anchor for Simmons' win in the 200-yard medley relay, following sophomore Sarah Singleton (Mission Hills, Calif.), first year Katelyn Quinlan (Haverhill, Mass.) and junior Anna Leedham (Lowell, Mass.) to combine on a time of 1:59.00. 

For the season, the Nursing major has turned in top-four finishes in all 10 individual races she has competed in, including wins in five different events. List has chalked up first-place efforts in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle in addition to the 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard butterfly. The Co-Captain has been a staple on the Sharks relay squads, helping the Fenway school to a pair of wins in the 200-yard freestyle relay as well as a triumph in the 200-medley relay. 

List has been named to the GNAC All-Conference squad twice during her career and has earned All-New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association status for the maximum seven times in each of her three years at the Championship meet. She won the 100-yard freestyle individual crown at the NEISDA title meet as a sophomore. List has racked up 62 top-three finishes in dual-meets or final heats, while owning 27 victories. 

Simmons is currently 3-5 on the season and will swim again on Friday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass. at the MIT Invitational.
