Swimming & Diving Named CSCAA Scholar All-America Team for Spring Semester

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Simmons College Women's Swimming & Diving squad was named a Scholar All-America Team following the Spring semester by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America it was announced by the organization.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Simmons College Women's Swimming & Diving squad was named a Scholar All-America Team following the Spring semester by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America it was announced by the organization.

The Sharks were one of 162 NCAA Division III institutions to earn the distinction from the CSCAA. Simmons compiled a 3.61 grade point average for the spring semester to rank among the top eight percent of all Division III schools recognized. Simmons boasted 19 student-athletes, who earned a 3.5 or higher GPA for the semester, including four team members with a perfect 4.0. The Sharks earned Scholar All-America honors following the fall semester as well.

With Spring graduations having passed, the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) designated 658 swimming and diving teams, representing 388 colleges and universities as Scholar All-America teams.  It is only the second time in the program's 30+ year history of the program that more than 600 teams have been named.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a GPA of 3.00 or higher over the Spring semester. 

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.

The Sharks posted one of the best seasons in program history, owning a 10-2 record in dual meets this year to match a school-record, while winning its 12th straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship in December. Simmons has also seen 11 school records fall this season. The Sharks finished third at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championships for the third consecutive year as well and was the top-scoring Division III team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships for the second straight season. Last month, the Simmons program saw eight of its competitors named to the Inaugural NEISDA All-Academic Team.
