Swimming & Diving Lands Eight on NEISDA All-Academic Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. ? The Simmons College women?s swimming & diving team had eight competitors named to the inaugural New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association All-Academic Team, it was recently announced by NEISDA.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team had eight competitors named to the inaugural New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association All-Academic Team, it was recently announced by NEISDA. 

The All-Academic Team is comprised of swimmers and divers from 21 member teams, who have completed at least three full-time academic semesters and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better, while being a team member in good standing for the entire season. 

The Sharks' total of eight was the most among NEISDA member schools.

The following competitors were named to the squad from Simmons. Seniors Courtney Swedeen (Medfield, Mass.), Kirsten Vickey (Taunton, Mass.) and Alex Vutech (Woodstock, Vt.), juniors Michelle Jung (Lexington, Mass.), Jordan Mattheisen (Seattle, Wash.) and Hannah Plourde (Westfield, Mass.) and sophomores  Abigail Gonzalez (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Lindsay Nichols (Kennebunk, Maine). 

The Sharks posted one of the best seasons in program history, owning a 10-2 record in dual meets this year to match a school-record, while winning its 12th straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship in December. Simmons has also seen 11 school records fall this season. The Sharks finished third at the NEISDA Championships for the third consecutive year as well and was the top-scoring Division III team at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships for the second straight season.
