Swimming & Diving Receives 2015 Fall Scholar All-America Honors from CSCAA

NORFOLK, Va. ? The Simmons College women?s swimming & diving team was named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, it was announced today by the organization.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team was named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, it was announced today by the organization. 

The Sharks were among 130 NCAA Division III schools honored and 547 men's and women's teams representing 354 colleges and universities spanning Division I, II and III institutions. The awards are in recognition of teams' that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2015 Fall Semester. 

Simmons posted a team GPA of 3.46 and boasted 20 student-athletes with a 3.50 GPA or higher, including a pair of swimmers with a perfect 4.0. The Sharks ranked 33rd out of 130 Division III teams to represent the top 25% in the nation and were among just five squads with the same roster size or larger to earn a 3.46 GPA or better.  

Simmons is enjoying one of the best seasons in program history, owning a 10-1 record in dual meets this year, while winning its 12th straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship in December. The Sharks have also seen four individual school records fall this season. The team returns to the water on Saturday, January 30 when it heads to South Hadley, Mass. to take on Mount Holyoke College at 12:00 p.m.
