WESTON, Mass. – Sophomore Michaela Morris (Duxbury, Mass.) won a pair of events and finished with 21 points to lead the Simmons College women's swimming & diving team over host Regis College, 194-66, and Colby-Sawyer College, 190-69, this afternoon in a double-dual meet in Weston, Mass. Colby-Sawyer scored big points late in the meet and used its depth to overcome Regis, for a 129-123 victory. 

Simmons won eight of 12 individual events and both relays, while also sweeping the top three spots in five events and improves to 9-1 on the season. Colby-Sawyer stands at 3-3 and Regis falls to 3-5. 

Morris won both butterfly events for Simmons, topping the field in the 100-yard race by nearly seven seconds with a mark of 1:03.36 to lead a sweep of the first three spots for the Sharks. She later won the 50-yard event with a time of 28.92. She also turned in a third-place showing against both Regis and Colby-Sawyer in the 100-yard backstroke. 

First year Kerry Fleming (Northampton, Mass.) won both of her events for Simmons, fueling a team sweep of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.97 and a sweep of the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:23.96 to win by more than 18 seconds. Sophomore Natalie Giraldi (Bedford, N.H.) won the 100-yard breaststroke by almost four seconds for Simmons and placed second in both the 200 and 50-yard freestyle to tally 17 points for the day. 

Junior Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, N.M.) scored with a first and second place effort on the afternoon for Simmons. She won the 100-yard freestyle by nearly two seconds with a time of 54.71 and also placed second in the 500-freestyle. Simmons first year Laura Simpson (Perkiomenville, Pa.) posted the best time in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.28 to win by more than six seconds and her effort in the 100-freestyle was good for second against Regis and third against Colby-Sawyer. Simmons senior Kevyn Lee (New York City, N.Y.) swam the fastest mark in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 12:05.68 to win by more than 23 seconds. 

Junior Sarah Price (New York, N.Y.) recorded a mark of 36.23 to finish first for Simmons against Colby-Sawyer in the 50-yard breaststroke and finished the day with 15 points agains the Chargers, while also adding a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and another third-place in the 100-yard breaststroke against CSC. Junior Julie Nguyen (Salem, Mass.) posted the best time in the 200-yard individual medley vs. Regis with a mark of 2:29.96.

Swisher, Giraldi, Morris and Fleming comprised the winning 200-yard medley relay team for Simmons, posting a time of 1:56.45. The quartet of first year Charlotte Rivard (Norwood, Mass.), senior Kirsten Vickey (Taunton, Mass.), Fleming and Simpson powered the Sharks to a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.64. 

Sophomore Makenzie Welch (Torrington, Conn.) and junior Anna Zdziarski (Southfield, Mass.) both contributed to Colby-Sawyer's late surge vs. Regis. Zdziarski led a sweep of the 50-butterfly vs. Regis with a time of 30.79, which placed her third vs. Simmons. The Chargers picked up 16 points in the race vs. Regis to take a 113-106 lead. Welch recorded the best time of the day in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:26.34 to win by more than three seconds as Colby-Sawyer increased its lead to 125-112 to clinch the win vs. Regis, heading into the 200-yard freestyle relay. Welch finished second against both teams in both the 50 and 100-yard backstroke events earlier in the meet. Zdziarski also placed second vs. Regis in the 50-yard breaststroke. Senior Hannah Willcutt (Tilton, N.H.) led a pair of event sweeps over Regis for Colby-Sawyer, finishing ahead of the Pride in the 1000-yard freestyle with at time of 12:49.00 and the 500-yard freestyle, hitting the wall at 6:29.36.She was also third in the 100-yard breaststroke vs. Regis to score 21 points vs. the Pride. Senior Elaine Miller (Windham, Maine) also picked up a first-place effort vs. Regis, clocking in at 56.60 in the 100-yard freestyle and finished second vs. Simmons. 

Sophomore Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) led Regis with a pair of first place finishes with the meet's best time in both events. She won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.85, before taking the 100-backstroke in 1:03.97 to finish the day unbeaten in individual events. Senior Lucia Llorente-Ruiz (Newton, Mass.) also won two events vs. Colby-Sawyer for Regis. Her time of 35.81 in the 50-yard breaststroke was the best of the day among all swimmers, while her mark of 1:18.95 topped Colby-Sawyer in the 100-yard breaststroke, while placing her second vs. Simmons. Senior Amanda Iandoli (Mansfield, Mass.) placed first vs. Colby-Sawyer for Regis with a time of 1:17.90, while first year Katherine Mariano was Regis' top finisher over Colby-Sawyer in the 200-yard freestyle after hitting the wall at 2:16.34. Iandoli also added a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly – both vs. Colby-Sawyer. Mariano was third in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events vs. Colby-Sawyer. Sophomore Ashlyn Deroche (North Reading, Mass.) registered a first-place effort in the 50-yard freestyle for Regis vs. Colby-Sawyer on a time of 28.32. 

The Simmons women will be in action again on Saturday, January 23 when it heads to Springfield, Mass. to swim against Western New England University at 12:00 p.m., while goes to Chicopee, Mass. on the same day to swim against Elms College at 11:00 a.m. and Colby-Sawyer hosts Gordon College on that day at 1:00 p.m.
