Swisher, 400-Free Relay Squad Advance to 2015 ECAC Swimming & Diving Championship Finals

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team's 400-yard freestyle relay squad advanced to today's finals of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, following this morning preliminaries at Trees Pool on the campus of University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Simmons College women's swimming & diving team's 400-yard freestyle relay squad advanced to today's finals of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, following this morning preliminaries at Trees Pool on the campus of University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The 400-free relay team featured sophomore Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, N.M.) leading off, followed by seniors Joleigh Ferro (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.) and anchored by sophomore Shylee Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) and posted a time of 3:37.74 to eclipse the school record by more than half a second and place eighth to qualify for tonight's finals.

Swisher will swim in tonight's consolation finals, following a ninth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 52.26. Stewart placed 44th in the event with a time of 54.62.

First year Natalie Giraldi (Bedford, N.H.) turned in a time of 2:34.39 to place 22nd in the 200-yard breaststroke for the Sharks.

Simmons will compete again in the finals at 4:00 p.m. later this afternoon.
