BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving swam to a 180-68 victory at Western New England University Saturday afternoon. Sharks first year Hannah Plourde (Westfield, Mass.) and senior Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) each scored 18 individual points.

Plourde finished first in the 200 Free and the 200 Breast with season-best times in both events. She also swam the second leg of the winning 200 Free Relay. Collins took top honors in the 50 Back with a time of 32.35 and followed up with a win in the 50 Fly.

First Year Maggie Kirby (Arnold, Md.) won the 200 Back with a seven-second lead over the second place finisher. Kirby also posted a second place finish in the 100 Fly and a third place finish in the 100 IM for 16 individual points.

"I'm proud of how the Simmons women are swimming right now.  Right now, our training is geared toward success at New England's, but I'm happy to see the team swimming fast along the way.  These race opportunities are helping the athletes learn about themselves as competitors and it is allowing us to experiment with different race strategies," said Head Coach Mindy Williams.

The Sharks return to the pool on Feb. 1 at Plymouth State at 1:00 PM for their final dual meet of the season.
