Swimming & Diving Defeats UMass Dartmouth

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving will kick off their 2013-2014 season on Saturday with the goal to remain undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Fresh off Thanksgiving break, Simmons Swimming & Diving defeated the Babson College Beavers 181-111 Tuesday evening to end a five-year drought for the Sharks in the the meeting of the two teams.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving defeated the visiting UMass Dartmouth Corsairs 155-81, Tuesday evening in the Sharks final home meet of the season. Before the meet began, the Sharks honored the team's five seniors, Rachel Lagasse (Hartford, Vt.), Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.), Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.), Collen DuBois (Walpole, Mass.) and Rachael Mullen (Peabody, Mass.) for their dedication to Simmons Swimming and Diving.

The Sharks took top honors in nine of the thirteen events and started strong with a win the 200 Medley Relay by more than eight seconds. First year Shylee Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) won the 100 and 200 Free, Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, N.M.) finished first in the 50 Free and 200 Back, and Collins won the 200 IM and 500 Free. First year Hannah Plourde (Westfield, Mass.) won the 200 Breast and came in third in the 200 IM. 

Kevyn Lee (New York, N.Y.) added second place wins in the 500 and 1000 Free and the Sharks swept the 50 Free as Swisher, Julie Nguyen (Salem, Mass.) and Sarah Price (New York, N.Y.) went 1,2,3. Amy Davis finished second in the 200 Fly and was part of both Sharks winning relay teams. 

The Corsairs were led by Katelyn Kidney, who won both the 1000 Free and 200 Fly, while Kendra Hebert swept both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events. 

The Sharks will end their season on the road with meets on Jan. 17 at Regis, Jan. 25 at Western New England and Feb. 1 at Plymouth State before traveling to the New England Championships on Feb. 14-16.
