WENHAM, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving defeated Elms College 190-70 and Gordon College 185-69 Saturday afternoon at the Bennett Center. The Sharks were led by senior Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.), and first years Shylee Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) and Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, NM), who each scored 36 individual points as the Sharks open their season, 3-0.

Collins swam to first place finishes against both Elms and Gordon in the 100 Fly and the 500 Free.  She then also anchored the winning 200 Free Relay to secure the win for the Sharks versus both teams. Stewart recorded her first two individual wins against both Elms and Gordon in the 200 IM and the 100 Breast.  She also swam the breaststroke on the winning 200 Medley Relay.

Swisher won the 50 Free by a full two-second margin and the 100 Back by over six seconds. Swisher swam the first leg of the Sharks first place victory in the 200 Medley Relay.  Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.) added 18 points against Gordon College, while Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.) contributed 13 and Joleigh Ferro (Pittsfield, Mass.) added 12 individual points.

"The team had a big training week, so I think they went into Saturday's meet a little tight, but they ceased the opportunity to race and we ended up with some great results," said Head Coach Mindy Williams.

The Sharks return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 8 against the University of New England at home at 5:00 PM.
