Swimming & Diving Sweeps GNAC Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors this week after a commanding 160.5-127.5 victory over the Westfield State University Owls Saturday afternoon.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors this week after a commanding 160.5-127.5 victory over the Westfield State University Owls Saturday afternoon.

Senior Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) was named GNAC Swimmer of the Week for finishing first in all three of her individual events vs. Westfield State. Collins won the 200 IM, 200 Free and 50 Free. The senior also anchored the winning 200 Freestyle relay to the lead the Sharks to a commanding win.

First Year Miriam Swisher (Albuquerque, NM) was named GNAC Rookie of the Week in her collegiate debut. Swisher finished first in both her individual events; the 50 back and the 100 free, setting a school and pool record in her 50 back. She also led off the winning 200 Medley Relay, which also set a school and pool record. Swisher swam the third leg of the winning 200 Freestyle relay to win the meet for Simmons.

The Sharks return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Gordon College against Elms at 1:00 PM.
