McDonald Named GNAC Swimmer of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman swimmer Maddy McDonald (Westwood, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week announced Tuesday by the Conference for her outstanding performance at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman swimmer Maddy McDonald (Westwood, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week announced Tuesday by the Conference for her outstanding performance at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships.

 

McDonald led all Sharks with 59 individual points and swam lifetime best times in all three of her individual event. She finished in the top eight in both the 50 Free and 100 Free events and picked up 14 points for her 13th place finish in the 50 Fly.

 

In addition to her solo events, McDonald also led Simmons to four top eight relay finishes in the 200, 400 and 800 Free Relays and the 400 Medley Relay. The 200 Free Relay of Chole Davis (Manchester, N.H.), Joleigh Ferro (Pittsfield, Mass.), Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.) and McDonald set a new school record of 1:43.17 and the 400 Medley Relay of C. Davis, Liz Zamagni (Chelmsford, Mass.), A. Davis and McDonald broke another school record with a new time of 4:19.59.

 

McDonald was previously named GNAC Swimming Rookie of the Week on January 29th.
