Sharks Edged by Beavers in Swimming & Diving

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons swimming & diving fell to the Babson College Beavers 158.5-134.5 in a closely contended non-conference meet Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons swimming & diving fell to the Babson College Beavers 158.5-134.5 in a closely contended non-conference meet Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center.

The Sharks, who are in preparation for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship this weekend, took top honors in seven of the sixteen events. Junior Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) finished first in the 100 and 200 free and 100 IM, while freshman Kevyn Lee (New York, New York) swam to a first place finish in the 1000 Free and a come-from-behind victory in the 500 free.

Chloe Davis (Manchester, N.H.) out-touched Bryn Powell in the 50 breastroke for the first place finish and Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.) finished first in the 50 fly and second behind teammate Collins in the 200 free. Freshman Maddy McDonald (Westwood, Mass.) added valuable individual points for the Sharks, with a third place finish in the 200 free and a second place finish in the 50 and 100 free.

 

The Sharks return to action on Saturday at the GNAC Swimming & Diving Championships at Simmons College. Events will begin at 10:30 a.m.
