Three Sharks Receive GNAC Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons soccer sophomore Keri Acheson (Peabody, Mass.) and swimmers Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) and Kevyn Lee (New York, N.Y.) each received Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors announced Tuesday.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons soccer sophomore Keri Acheson (Peabody, Mass.) and swimmers Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) and Kevyn Lee (New York, N.Y.) each received Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors announced Tuesday.

Keri Acheson was named the GNAC Soccer Player of the Week as she scored one goal and assisted on another to lift the Sharks to a 2-0 victory over the Albertus Magnus Falcons in a GNAC soccer quarterfinal match on Sunday morning. Acheson is tied for second on the team with six goals this season. The #4 Sharks travel to the #1 University of Saint Joseph on Thursday, November 1st for the GNAC Semifinals.

Simmons Swimming swept the GNAC weekly awards with a stellar opening meet versus the Westfield State University Owls. Junior Jen Collins was named GNAC Swimmer of the Week, leading the Sharks with 27 individual points. Collins won the 200 Free, 100 Free and 200 IM and also anchored the winning 200 Free Relay.

Freshman Kevyn Lee was named GNAC Swimming Rookie of the Week. In her first collegiate meet, Lee finished second in both the 500 and 1000 Free and swam on the second-place 200 Free Relay, where the Sharks went 1-2 to win the meet against Westfield. Lee also achieved a New England "A" qualifying standard in the 1000 Free. The Sharks return to the pool on Saturday, November 3rd at a tri-meet versus Gordon College and Elms College at 1:00 p.m.
