Sharks Speedy in Defeat of Golden Bears

Seniors Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) and Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.) each captured two events and earned 18 points apiece as Simmons Swimming posted a 150-110 victory over Western New England College on Saturday, January 30, at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Seniors Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) and Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.) each captured two events and earned 18 points apiece as Simmons Swimming posted a 150-110 victory over Western New England College on Saturday, January 30, at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Torelli came home first in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:07.8) and 200 IM (2:25.90). She also swam on both the winning 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relay teams.

Urciuoli reached the finish line first in the 200 Fly (2:25.80) and 500 Free (5:47.69).

Other top finishers include freshman Liz Zamagni (Chelmsford, Mass.) with a win in the 200 Breast (2:52.40) and a second place finish in the 50 Breast (37.55). Freshman Alyssa Musket (Lincoln, R.I.) swam to a win in the 50 Free (25.85) and was a member of the winning 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay teams.

Junior Hannah McQuillan (Florence, Mass.) captured the 1,000 Free (12:27.29) after returning from spending the fall semester abroad. McQuillan is now two seconds off the New England qualifying time. Freshman Anne Karasek (Brookline, Mass.) finished second in the event in 12:36.68.

The Sharks will travel to Regis College on Tuesday, January 2 for a 7:00pm meet.
