Simmons Swimming and Diving battled Wellesley College at home on Friday, falling to the Blue, 161-128, despite the two record performances.

The Relay team broke the mark of 1:47.97 set in 2006 by Arsenault, Calvanese, Minihan and Lowry. King's mark of 241.65 (6 dives) replaces the pool record of 225.30 set in 2009 by Kimi Schmidt of Westfield State, and the Simmons team record of 212.30 set in 2001 by Erin Miller. The top score earned King the event win, and she was followed by teammates Curry Gir (189.30) and Alyssa Rizzo (186.65) in second and third place.

"Kaira King truly shined tonight on 1m and took down the pool and team record," said Diving Coach Erin Rowe. "She is certainly a rising star for the Sharks."

Head Coach Mindy Williams was excited by the team's performance. "I knew we would break that record at some point this season, but I didn't expect it to happen in November, and certainly not against as school as strong as Wellesley. There were a lot of people swimming events for the first time, but they put their nerves aside and got excited about the opportunity.  Wellesley is a tough team, but we hung with them!"

The Sharks will return to action on Tuesday, December 1 when they travel to Babson College at 6:00pm.
