Simmons Swimming and Diving fell to a strong Mount Holyoke squad, 154-145, on Saturday. With the win, Simmons falls to 2-5, while the Lyons improve to 2-3.

Simmons captured wins in six events. Senior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) swept both distance races-- the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Junior Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.) won the 200-yard freestyle, and sophomore Chenelle Jackson (Dorchester, Mass.) grabbed first place in the 50-yard butterfly.

Junior Amanda Dirksmeier (Marshfield, Mass.) swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events to earn 18 valuable points for the Sharks.

Mount Holyoke and Simmons have had a close rivalry in swimming during the past several years, so we knew that we would have to post season-best performances to keep up with Mount Holyoke, and we did, but fell just a few points shy," said Head Coach Mindy Williams. "There is nothing the team could have done differently to improve their performance and I am very proud of the energy they brought to the pool deck."

The Sharks will return to competition when they face off with Western New England College on Saturday, January 31 at home at 1:00pm.
