Simmons Swimming & Diving topped their competition at home on Saturday, walking away with a win against Western New England College, 145-118.

Senior captain Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) finished first in the 200 IM, 500 Free and 1,000 Free, all with season's best times.

Junior Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) swept the Breaststroke events, capturing the 100- and 200-yard distances in season best times.  She was also a member of both winning relays, anchoring an exciting 200 Free Relay to out-touch the competition by just 3-tenths of a second.

Freshman Alyssa Rizzo (Attleboro, Mass.) twisted and spun her way to a win in the 1-meter diving competition, achieving a lifetime best score of 177.70 in her first year of diving.

Head Coach Mindy Williams was pleased with the Sharks' performance. "The team came into this meet with a ton of confidence. They have had some outstanding practices in the last week or so and I can tell that they are starting to believe in themselves. The swimmers are pushing themselves harder and realizing that they're racing the clock as much as they are racing their competition. They have finally figured out how to make it hurt.

"The divers have bumped up their degree of difficulty in order to achieve New England cuts. All four divers have achieved at least one qualifying standard."

Other notable swims came from sophomore Hannah McQuillan (Florence, Mass.) in her second place finishes in the grueling 1,000- and 500-yard Free events. Junior Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.) swept the 200 Free and 200 Fly, earning 18 points for the Sharks.

Senior Erica Boswell (Salem, Mass.) was the meet's highest point scorer (20) with her efforts in the 50- and 100-yard Free events, taking first in both, and fourth in the 100-yard Backstroke behind teammates Julia Herman (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) in second and Stephanie Bitzas (Westfield, Mass.) in third.

The Sharks will face their next competition on Tuesday, February 3 at 5:00pm at home against Regis College.
