Simmons senior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) was named GNAC Swimmer of the Week, and sophomore Chennelle Jackson (Dorchester, Mass.) received GNAC Honor Roll mention, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday.

Arsenault had a stellar meet at the GNAC Swimming & Diving Championships, held at the Simmons College Holmes Sports & Fitness Center from December 6-7. She scored 26 points making her the individual high point scorer for the meet. She finished second in the 200-yard Free and placed first in the 1650-yard Free with a new pool and GNAC Championship record of 19:20.48. Arsenault also took first in the 500-yard Free, first in the 400-yard IM, and was a member of the winning 800-yard Freestyle Relay and the third-place 200-yard Free Relay.

Arsenault was also named Shark of the Week by the Simmons Athletics Department, underlining her dominating performances in the pool.

"Keri-Ann had a heavy event load at this meet and she did a great job of isolating each race and giving it everything, regardless of how much recovery time she was going to get before her next swim," said Head Coach Mindy Williams. "Keri-Ann went into the GNAC meet, as did most of her teammates, mentally and physically ready to dominate."

Jackson, a sprinter, also had a breakout meet, earning a spot on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll. Jackson made the finals in all three of her events at the Championship meet, swimming to a second-place finish in the 50-yard Fly. In addition, Jackson finished eighth in the 50-yard Back and seventh in the 100-yard Fly. She also swam the butterfly leg of Simmons' second-place 200-yard Medley Relay team.

"Nellie swam a season best time in the 50 Fly and really came home hard in that event. She closed the gap on the lead swimmer in the last few yards, but the wall came a little too soon," said Williams. "She had some break-through swims last weekend, including some outstanding relay splits, and is going to be a force for the Sharks during second semester."
