Simmons Swimming & Diving secured a win over Regis College on Tuesday, 112-68, in a dominant fashion, proving they have been hard at work under first-year Head Coach Mindy Williams. With the win, the Sharks improve to 5-5 as they approach the end of the season, and with it, the New England Championships on February 20-22, 2009.

The Sharks took to the pool with enthusiasm, and cheered their teammates on to two more qualifying standards for the New England meet.

Freshman diver Alyssa Rizzo (Attleboro, Mass.) earned a secure spot in the championship diving rotation with a third-place score of 173.00 in the 1-meter springboard competition, behind first- and second place teammates Heather O'Connell (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Amanda Dirksmeier (Marshfield, Mass.).

Sophomore Hannah McQuillan (Florence, Mass.) also made the cut for New Englands in a time trial exhibition of the 100-yard Breaststroke.

Junior Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) achieved a victory and a season-best time in the 50-yard Free (27.43), ahead of second- and third-place teammates Stephanie Bitzas (Westfield, Mass.) and Maria Pantelis (Wayland, Mass.).

The Sharks' Butterfly squad was on fire, with Julia Morrison (West Hartford, Conn.), Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Chenelle Jackson (Dorchester, Mass.) sweeping the top three spots of the 100-yard Fly.

The Sharks will wrap up their regular season at home on Saturday, February 7 at 12:00pm with a meet against Plymouth State University. The team will also celebrate Senior Day for their five departing seniors-- Keri-Ann Arsenault, Jenny Erviti, Erica Boswell, Morrison and Julia Herman.
