Simmons Swimmer Caitlin Urciuoli was named Swimmer of the Week, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced today.

Urciuoli, a junior from Wethersfield, Conn., and her teammates competed at the Regis Invitational over the weekend. Urciuoli finished the meet with a team-high 44 points, after strong swims that led her to finish 3rd in the 200 Free, 4th in the 100 Fly and 7th in the 500 Free, all with season-best times.  She also led off the 200 Freestyle relay that finished 4th place.

"Caitlin definitely let her competitive side shine this past weekend," said Head Coach Mindy Williams. "Her 200 freestyle was one of the best swims I've seen out of a Simmons athlete. After 150 yards she was in 7th place, but she chased down her competition in the final lap to finish 3rd overall. It was an outstanding finish and a classic case of keeping a goal in sight. I knew Caitlin was a great swimmer, but she has now proved to be a great racer as well!"
