Simmons swimmer Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, NH) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, the GNAC announced on Monday.

Arsenault, a team captain specializing in distance freestyle and the IM, started the 2008 season strong in Simmons' season opener at Westfield State on Saturday. She won the 200 Free and 200 IM, placed 3rd in the 500 Free, and earned 2nd in the 200 Free Relay. Arsenault's winning time of 2:10.82 in the 200 Free was almost two seconds faster than the second place finisher from Westfield.

"Keri-Ann has made it clear that she is looking to get a lot out of her senior season," said Head Coach Mindy Williams. "What impressed me the most last weekend was not where Keri-Ann finished in her races, but how she finished. All three of her individual swims were battles, and she fought for the win in both the IM and the 200 Free. In the 500, the first three finishers were within two seconds of each other.  All three of her races were exciting and close."

Arsenault and her teammates will face their next competition in the pool at home on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00pm, swimming against Wheelock College and Elms College.
