BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons soccer (1-12-2, 1-10-2 GNAC) falls to conference-leading Johnson & Wales University (13-2-3, 13-0-0 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday evening.

The Wildcats were quick to pounce first, scoring in the 12th minute to take the 1-0 advantage, but it was a short-lived lead. Five minutes later the Sharks were threatening, methodically moving their way up the field.

Coming up the middle of the field, sophomore Emma McEwan knocked the ball to fellow classmate, sophomore Kayla Noonan along the far-side. Noonan fired a laser off the nearside post and ricocheted just inside the right corner of goal for the equalizer.

Johnson & Wales answered a minute later, re-gaining the lead on an unassisted goal by Kylie Schmidt to give the Wildcats the 2-1 lead. The Sharks managed to hang with the Wildcats throughout the remainder of the first half, behind outstanding goalkeeping by sophomore Julia Rodgers' four saves.

However, the second half belonged to the Wildcats. Recording a pair of goals in the opening 13 minutes, Johnson & Wales was off to the races and never looked back.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sophomore Kayla Noonan registered the equalizer in the 17th minute for her first goal of the game on pass sophomore Emma McEwan.
  • The Sharks have scored at least one goal in each of the last four games.
