BRIGHTON, Mass. – In a midweek Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match-up, Simmons soccer (0-9-2, 0-7-2 GNAC) and Dean College (4-5-2, 3-4-2 GNAC) battled each other to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday evening.

The Sharks dominated the time of possession battle after the opening kick-off and looked poised to score early, earning two corners in the first 10 minutes. After being awarded their first corner kick four minutes into the contest, graduate senior Riley Wasiuk shot attempt escaped wide of the target.

Moments later, Simmons was granted another corner, but were unable to captalize on the opportunity. Dean goalkeeper Haley Gaunt came up with the save on a bullet off foot of senior Sydney Neumuth

The Sharks not letting up. Wasiuk ripped back-to-back shots that just missed high of the target, while sophomore Kayla Noonan had a pair of opportunities to strike first but came up just short.  In the 17th minute, graduate senior Mia Nikolakopoulos gave the Sharks another chance, firing a shot on net that was saved by Gaunt before lining another shot that caromed off the defense.

Taking a 0-0 tie into the second half, Simmons continued to set the edge. Increasing their time of possession to 60% in the second, but it remained a goalkeepers' battle. Wasiuk and Neumuth threatened to put the Sharks on the board at the start of the period, but two solid saves by Gaunt quieted the danger.

The two teams grinded it down to the very end, but were unable knock one past opposing keeper.
