CHICOPEE, Mass. – Despite a valiant effort, Simmons soccer (0-9-1, 0-7-1 GNAC) was shutout by Elms College (5-5-0, 4-4-0 GNAC) in Great Northeast Collegiate Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon.

It was a fairly balanced contested match throughout the majority of the game. While the Blazers maintained a slight edge in the time of possession game, it did not phase the Sharks who showed their toughness throughout all 90 minutes.

Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Rodgers withstood the pressure of the Blazer offense in the early going as Elms jumped on the board with two goals. But Rodgers and the defensive line was not backing down, registering four saves in 90 minutes.

Moments after the Blazers scored their second goal of the game, first-year Lauren Krupnikoff looked to cut the deficit in half, but the shot sailed high of the net. Two minutes later, senior Kristina Reed ripped another shot that ended up wide right.
