Soccer Suffers Road Contest to Strong Colby-Sawyer Squad

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Simmons soccer (0-6-1, 0-4-1 GNAC) fell to a tough Colby-Sawyer College (4-1-1, 3-1-0 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Chargers jumped on the scoreboard early, scoring on a penalty kick eight minutes into the contest. A few minutes later, they added an insurance goal in the 14th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Despite trailing by a pair of goals the Sharks hung tough with the Chargers and maintaining possession 50% of the time to keep the deficit at two goals.

However, when the teams returned at the start of the second half, Colby-Sawyer came out strong. Scoring within the first minute of the second half, the Chargers unleased four goals in the period 

The Sharks made a strong push let to break up the shutout. In the 73rd minute, senior Jill Napolitano fired a shot that went wide left of the net. A minute later, sophomore Carolyn Dorman ripped a shot towards the net, but it escaped high
