Soccer Drops Midweek Non-Conference Game to Curry

MILTON, Mass. – The Simmons University soccer team (0-3-0) fell to non-conference Curry College (2-1-0) on the road, Wednesday evening.

Curry wasted little time, jumping on the scoreboard in the fourth minute when Madison Frye connected with Samantha Borges to give the Colonels the 1-0 match advantage. However, the Sharks were able to minimize the damage and keep the Colonels off the board for the remainder of the first half.

When the teams returned to the pitch at the start of the second half, sophomore goalkeeper Marita Nothacker kept the Sharks in the contest, registering four saves. But in the 56th minute Curry was able to sneak an insurance goal passed the Philadelphia native to put the Colonels up 2-0, before they added a third in the 63rd minute.

The Shark offense never gave up. Junior captain Izabella Warren fired a shot on net with eight minutes left that was knocked away by Curry goalkeeper Stella Schofield.
