BOSTON – The Simmons soccer team dropped its season opener to non-conference Wellesley College, 2-0 on Wednesday evening at Daly Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Simmons and Wellesley battled tough for the majority of the first half.
- The Blue's Eliza Roy broke the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute to give Wellesley the 1-0 advantage.
- Seven minutes before halftime Wellesley's Marleigh Ausbrooks added an insurance goal, finding the back of the net on a breakaway in 38th minute.
SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS:
- Marita Nothacker was solid in net for Sharks, registering nine saves on the evening.
- Izabella Warren led the offense firing two shots, while Steph Mendoza notched a shot on net for the Sharks.
