WINTHROP, Mass. – First year Melanie Colman (Holliston, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week for the week of October 14-20, it was announced today by the league.

Colman becomes the first Shark to earn both Goalkeeper and Rookie top weekly honors in school history and the first GNAC player to earn the double-honor since Saint Joseph's College's (Maine) Adia Grogan earned both awards for the week of October 8-14, 2018. Colman becomes the second straight Simmons rookie to earn the weekly accolade after classmate Izabella Warren (Hillsboro, N.H.) was named last week and the first goalie to earn the weekly honor for the Sharks since Lauren Williams (2016-18) was tabbed for the week of September 17-23, 2018.

Colman was brilliant in Simmons' only match of the week, turning away all 11 shots she faced in 90 minutes of action to record a 1-0 shutout at host Anna Maria College on October 16.
