The Sharks maintain at 1-3-2 overall record and 0-2-1 in the GNAC, while the Saints uphold a 2-4-1 season record and 2-0-1 in GNAC play.

BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with cross-street rival Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action, this afternoon at Roberto Clemente field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks maintain at 1-3-2 overall record and 0-2-1 in the GNAC, while the Saints uphold a 2-4-1 season record and 2-0-1 in GNAC play.

The match marked the tenth time in 26 games during the all-time series that the teams have not settled the game in regulation. 

Emmanuel held a slight edge in total shots over Simmons 19-12 including 4-1 in the overtime periods, while the Saints also owned a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Sharks jumped on the board early in the match with junior midfielder Cíara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) slotting home a through ball that was played in past the defense by classmate Lauren Brandau (Madison, Conn.) at 3:06, to give the visitors at 1-0 lead. Forde is currently the team leader in goals scored with three on the season. The goal would be all the scoring in the half, with the teams entering halftime with a 1-0 Simmons lead.

Emmanuel knotted the score up 39 seconds into the second half as junior forward Kayla Generis (Wethersfield, Conn.) connected with Mikayla Guthrie (North Andover, Mass.) who knocked home her first goal of the season. The Saints had an opportunity to put another marker on the board late in regulation, but senior goalkeeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) came off her line to break up the scoring opportunity for the Sharks, keeping the game locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation.

Emmanuel had four shots in the overtime period, while Simmons attempted one, but neither team was able to score the decisive goal.

Halle turned away nine shots in 110 minutes of action for the visitors, while Saints senior goalkeeper Victoria Laroche recorded six saves in the outing.

Simmons returns to action on Wednesday, September 20 when it travels to GNAC rival, Suffolk University for a 7:00 p.m. match, while the Saints are back on the same night and time, when they host University of Massachusetts Boston at Clemente Field.
