CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior defender Liz Donovan (Nashua, N.H.) scored with 3:56 to play in regulation to pull the Simmons College women's soccer team even with host Lesley University and lead to a 1-1 double-overtime tie this evening at Edwards Field in Cambridge, Mass. The Sharks are now 1-1-1 on the season, while the Lynx stand at 1-1-1 as well.

Lesley owned an 11-7 shot advantage, including the only two attempts in the overtime periods, while Simmons held a 9-6 margin in corner kicks.

Donovan sent a shot on a free kick from the top left of the box and found the back of the net for her second career goal at the 86:04 mark of the second half for the Sharks.

The teams were scoreless over the next 23:56 of play.

The Lynx got on the board less than seven minutes into the opening half when senior midfielder Karlie Rubin (San Diego, Calif.) sent a free ball into the goal mouth, where junior midfielder Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas) redirected it across the goal line with her head to give the home team a 1-0 edge at 6:59.

Lesley ended the half with a 7-3 shot disparity, but the Simmons defense held the Lynx to just two shots in the second half, while the Sharks offense put four shots on frame.

Senior keeper Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) made six saves in 110 minutes of action for Simmons, while senior goalie Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) went untested in the first half and sophomore Brittley Gaan (Bellevue, Wash.) registered two saves in the final 65 minutes of play for Lesley.

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, September 9 when they head to Newton, Mass. to open the Great Northeast Athletic Conference slate against Lasell College at 12:00 p.m., while the Lynx play at the same time and on the same day in Wellesley, Mass., taking on Wellesley College.
