Halle Named GNAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Week

WINTRHOP, Mass. ? Simmons College?s Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Co-Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of September 26 to October 2, it was announced today by the league.

WINTRHOP, Mass. – Simmons College's Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Co-Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of September 26 to October 2, it was announced today by the league. 

The award marks the second time in her career that she has earned the award for the Sharks. She was also named for the week of September 22-28, 2014 as a first year. 

The junior posted a pair of shutouts, while stopping all eight shots she faced in 180 minutes of action over two matches. A graduate of Watertown High School, Halle began the week by turning away five shots in a 3-0 shutout victory over visiting conference foe Emmanuel College on September 28. She capped the week by making three saves in a 4-0 win over visiting Suffolk University in a GNAC match on October 1. 

For the season, Halle has posted a 1.10 goals against average to rank fourth among league leaders, while her .825 save mark is good for sixth-best in the conference. The keeper has made 52 saves in 898:22 minutes, while starting all 10 matches she's appeared in this season. She has not allowed a goal in her last 232:43 minutes of play. 

A Physical Therapy major, Halle has seen action in 16 career matches, while making 12 starts. She's registered a 1.16 goals against average in 1240:45 minutes, while making 69 saves for a .812 save percentage. She has also recorded five career shutouts. Halle's first collegiate start was a memorable one on August 31, 2014 as she not only posted a shutout vs. Saint Joseph's College (L.I.), but she also notched a point with an assist from the keeper position. 

Simmons has won three of its last four matches – all by shutout – and is currently 4-5-1 overall, including 3-2-0 in league play. The Sharks return to action on Wednesday, October 5 when they host GNAC rival Norwich University at 7:00 p.m. on Daly Field.
