WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women's soccer players Ali Berkman (Natick, Mass.) and Issy Verrilli (Naugatuck, Conn.) were both named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference First Team, while Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) and Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) were each tabbed to the Second Team, it was announced today by the league. Victoria Russo (Braintree, Mass.) was also selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the Sharks. 

Berkman earns All-Conference honors for the third straight year and is a First Team selection for the second season in a row. The senior tallied six goals – all in conference play, which ranked seventh among league leaders for markers in GNAC action. The midfielder netted multiple goals on three occasions, including both scores in a 2-1 victory over Albertus Magnus College on September 19. A graduate of Natick High School, Berkman started 18 of 19 matches for Simmons. Berkman closes out her career with 43 lifetime points on 20 goals and three assists, while starting 52 of 65 matches that she appeared in. Nearly half of her scores were game-winners, racking up eight game-deciding tallies. 

Verrilli becomes only the second player in league history and the first defender to be named to the GNAC First Team four years in a row. The senior started all 16 matches she played in for the Sharks and tallied a goal. The defender helped Simmons post a 1.36 goals against average in the matches that she appeared in, while contributing to four shutouts. Verrilli also helped the Sharks' defense limit opponents to just 12.5 shots per outing. The Naugatuck High School product finishes her tenure with Simmons, having started 66 of 69 matches that she competed in, while registering three points on a goal and an assist. She became the first player in school history to earn GNAC Defensive Player of the Year honors last season. 

For the third straight season, Gilbert earns All-Conference honors. The senior earned First Team honors last year and was tabbed for the Second Team as a sophomore. The forward was one of four players in the league to record at least seven goals and seven assists for the season. She started all 19 matches for the Sharks and ranked among the conference leaders in conference-only matches, placing fifth with 17 points, sixth with five assists and seventh with six goals. Gilbert was named the GNAC Player of the Week for the week of September 7-13. The Falmouth High School graduate finished the campaign with 21 points for the entire season to give her 20-plus points in three straight seasons. She completes her career with 70 points for the fourth-most in school annals, while ranking third all-time at Simmons with 18 assists. Gilbert started 73 of 79 matches for the Sharks and netted 26 goals, including seven game-winners. 

Gammon enjoyed a breakout season with 24 points and 11 goals to lead the team, while starting all 18 matches she played in. Her 10 goals in conference play were the second-most of any GNAC player and her 21 points against league foes placed her third. The forward made her scores count, racking up five game-winning markers. From September 30 to October 13, she was arguably the best offensive player in the conference, scoring eight goals and adding an assist during a five-match point streak that saw her total 17 points during the stretch. She was named the GNAC Player of the Week twice during that time. The sophomore registered her first career hat trick with three goals in a 4-1 victory at Norwich University on October 7. The Hollis Brookline High School graduate has started 30 of 37 matches that she's appeared in for Simmons, while scoring 16 goals and adding four assists for 36 points. 

Simmons finished the season with a 9-10-0 overall record, including 8-3-0 in league play to earn the number three seed in the conference tournament. The Sharks were upset by sixth-seeded University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), 1-0, on October 3.
