Springfield held an 20-6 advantage in shots, including an 13-2 margin in the first half, while it also posted nine corner kicks to Simmons three.

The Pride provided all the scoring for the match with a pair of goals in a span of 55 seconds.

After a flurry of chances to open the game, Springfield broke the scoreless tie when Jessica Miller (Southbury, Conn.) tallied her fourth goal of the season when she headed a ball past the Sharks keeper to give the Pride a 1-0 advantage with 28:51 left in the first half.

Just 55 seconds later, senior Nicole Fowler (Hudson, Mass.) collected a cross from Bri Messier (Hopedale, Mass.) and connected on a shot from well outside the box that floated over the out-stretched hands of the Simmons keeper and into the back of the net. The marker was her fourth goal of the season and gave Springfield an early 2-0 lead midway through the opening stanza.

Both sides played back-and-forth soccer for a majority of the second half, as the Pride was able to close out the 2-0 victory at game's end.

Senior Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) made six stops for the Sharks, while sophomore goalie Ciara Boucher (Manchester, Conn.) turned away two shots to earn the victory for Springfield.
