NASHUA, N.H. - Sophomore forward Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) made her homecoming a good one, netting a career-best two goals to lead the Simmons College women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over host Rivier University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match this afternoon at Raider Field in Nashua, N.H. The Sharks improve to 5-6-0 and 4-1-0 with their second straight conference win and shutout, while the Raiders fall to 2-6-1 and 0-5-0.

The Simmons offense has scored 12 goals in its last two matches and held a convincing 24-9 shot advantage over Rivier and 7-0 margin in corner kicks.

Gammon netted the first two markers of the day for the Sharks within three minutes of each other. Her first tally came just under four minutes into the second half when she converted a cross from senior forward Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) into a 1-0 edge for Simmons at 48:41 to put the visitors on the board. Gammon's second goal came off a well-executed corner kick play for Simmons. Senior midfielder Victoria Russo (Braintree, Mass.) lofted a perfectly placed ball into the six-yard box, where Gammon was able to leap and head the ball past the Raider goalkeeper for her team-high fifth goal of the season.

Russo facilitated her second score of the day when she found Gilbert at the 72:01 mark of the second stanza for the forward's fourth goal of the season and a 3-0 Sharks' advantage. First year forward Ciara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) posted her first collegiate goal to cap the team's scoring with just under nine minutes to play in the contest.

The Raiders had some chances to get on the board but were unsuccessful as Simmons' senior goalkeeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) stopped all four shots she faced to earn her 14th career shutout in the win. Sophomore goalie Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) made 12 saves for Rivier on the afternoon.

The Sharks travel to Northfield, Vt. on Wednesday, October 7 for a 7:00 p.m. meeting with conference rival Norwich University. Rivier will be in action on the same night, hosting Emmanuel College at 7:00 p.m.
