Gilbert Named ECAC New England and GNAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. ? Simmons College women?s soccer player Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) was named the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of September 7-13, it was announced by each league.

BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons College women's soccer player Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) was named the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of September 7-13, it was announced by each league.  

Gilbert figured in all six goals that the Sharks scored on the week, scoring three goals and assisting on three others in two matches. The senior recorded a pair of assists, before netting the game-winning marker in a 3-2 overtime victory over host Eastern Connecticut State University on September 9. The forward tallied two more goals and assisted on the game-decider to help Simmons take a 3-1 win over Saint Joseph's College (Maine) to open the conference slate on September 12. 

A graduate of Falmouth High School, Gilbert currently leads the team with nine points, three goals and three assists to go with a team-best .333 shooting percentage. The Physical Therapy major leads the GNAC in assists, while ranking second in points and fourth in goals. 

The four-year starter was named a GNAC First Team selection last season after being named to the Second Team as a sophomore. She has started 59 of 65 matches during her career and her 58 career points place her fourth among the school's all-time leaders. She also has 22 lifetime goals, including six game-winners and 14 assists.

The Sharks were picked to finish third in the GNAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll and are currently 2-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. Simmons will play again on Tuesday, September 15 when it travels across the river to take on Lesley University at 8:00 p.m.
