Soccer Falls at Babson, 6-0

BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Simmons College women's socccer team was beaten by host Babson College, 6-0, this afternoon in the Babson Classic at Babson Park, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Beavers improve to a perfect 3-0.

STANDISH, MAINE - The Simmons College women's soccer team earned 2-0 shutout over host Saint Joseph's College (Maine) this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on Westerlea Way Field in Standish, Maine. The Sharks improve to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in league play, while the Monks fall to 4-5-0 and 1-1-0.

BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Simmons College women's soccer team was beaten by host Babson College, 6-0, this afternoon in the Babson Classic at Babson Park, Mass. The Sharks fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Beavers improve to a perfect 3-0.

Sophomore Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) led the Simmons offense with three shots on the day.

Babson outshot the Sharks, 21-6, and netted four of its goals in the first half. Six different players scored for the Beavers.

Senior midfielder Meghan Tyson (Scarborough, Maine) put the home team on the board less than 20 minutes into the contest with her first tally of the season at 19:23. Junior midfielder Taylor Goldsborough (Williston, Vt.) followed seven minutes later with her first marker of the year as well on a feed from senior back Kristina Simonson (Easton, Mass.) off a corner kick at 26:22 of the opening half for Babson. First year forward Jessica Fernandes (Pawtucket, R.I.) figured in the next two scores for the Beavers. She found junior forward Olivia Kerester (Chappaqua, N.Y.) at 32:45 for their third goal of the afternoon, when she collected a loose ball and converted from 10 yards out. Fernandes came through on a penalty kick just before the end of the half, finding the back of the net with just 11 ticks left in the period for her second tally of the campaign.

First year forward Kathryn Clark (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) gave Babson a 5-0 advantage when she took a through ball and beat the Sharks' keeper for her second goal of the year at the 56:29 mark. First year Jessica DeLuca (Sudbury, Mass.) capped the day's scoring for the Beavers when her corner kick snuck just inside the back post for her second goal of the season with just 51 seconds remaining in the match.

Senior keeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) stopped four of seven shots that she faced in 44:49 of action, before sophomore Casey Halle (Watertown, Mass.) turned away three of six shots that she saw in relief for Simmons. First year goalie Elizabeth Mycock (Windham, Maine) made two saves to earn the shutout for Babson. 

The Sharks return to action on Wednesday, September 9 when they travel to Willimantic, Conn. to take on Eastern Connecticut State University at 7:00 p.m., while the Beavers head to Beverly, Mass. on the same day for a 4:00 p.m. start with Endicott College.
