BOSTON, Mass. -- Six members of the Simmons Soccer team received 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference honors announced Monday by the Conference. The Sharks made it to the conference semifinals and finished the season at 8-11-1 and 5-6 in the GNAC.

Senior midfielder Desh Perera (Reading, Mass.), sophomore defender Issy Verrilli (Naugatuck, Conn.) and sophomore goalkeeper Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) each received All-Conference First Team honors. Perera started 19 of 20 games and scored three goals with three assists for nine points. Verrilli anchored the Sharks' defense, staring all 18 games she played this season. Hayes recorded just under1800 minutes in net, posted a 1.20 goals against average and a 0.882 save percentage on 19 starts in net, and recorded four shutouts.

Forward Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) was named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team and sophomore midfielder Ali Berkman (Natick, Mass.) and senior defender Katie McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine) each received third team honors. Gilbert led all Sharks with 10 goals and two assists for 22 points in her sophomore campaign. Berkman was second on the team in points with 16 off of seven goals and two assists, while McCarthy joined Verrilli on the Sharks backline in all 20 games as the veteran defender.

Senior Kristyn Heuslein (Manchester, N.H.) was named to the 2013 GNAC Women's Soccer Sportsmanship Team for her leadership and composure in the midfield. Heuslein started all 20 games for the Sharks and scored six goals. Berkman and Hayes were also named to the 2013 GNAC All-Tournament team for their performances in the Sharks playoff run.
