BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons soccer sophomore Jennie Holloway (Hardwick, Vt.) was named a recipient of a 2012 Scott/Ross Center Fellowship in Nonprofit Management announced Tuesday.

Holloway, a double major in Sociology and Social Justice, will spend nine weeks this summer enhancing her understanding of nonprofit management challenges and best practices, developing a theoretical and practical understanding of the nonprofit sector and the connection to grant making and philanthropy along with consideration of the nonprofit sector as a viable career choice. She will begin and end the fellowship at The Boston Foundation with six weeks at community partner sites in between.

"I feel honored to have been chosen for this fellowship. I am very grateful for this wonderful opportunity to work in the non-profit field and I look forward to increasing my knowledge. I have always had a place in my heart for non-profit work. Through this fellowship, I hope to gain a better understanding of my place within this field. In the future, I hope to be a working social worker in the field. I am unsure as to what I want to do specifically, but the options are endless and I know I will be of great use in one way or another," said Holloway.
