Sharks Fall to Falcons in OT, 1-0

Simmons Soccer was defeated by Albertus Magnus on Tuesday evening in New Haven, Conn. The Falcons used an overtime goal off the leg of freshman forward Sam Corso to defeat Simmons in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup.  Corso finished a ball off the post after junior forward Krystal Quinones blasted a shot off of sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Donaghey (Framingham, Mass.) in the 93rd minute. With the win, Albertus improves to 10-6-1 (7-3-1 GNAC) while Simmons drops to 6-9-1 (5-6-0 GNAC).

Simmons threatened to score in the 20th minute when sophomore defender Samantha Farley cleared a sure goal out of the goal to keep the game scoreless.

Albertus had a scoring opportunity in the 32nd minute when junior Sarah Boudreau blasted a header that Donaghey made a diving save to keep score 0-0.

Corso would have her first scoring opportunity in the 61st minute when Donaghey made a point blank save just 3 yards outside of the goal to keep the game tied.

The Falcons clinched a playoff berth and conclude their regular season in Standish, ME on Saturday at 1:00 pm when they take on GNAC opponent St. Joseph's College (ME). The Sharks will battle the Lasers of Lasell College in a Senior Day match on Saturday, October 23 at 1:00pm.
