Simmons Soccer and Plymouth State ended in a stalemate after 110 minutes of play Wednesday night, with the game ending in double overtime and both teams unable to score.

PSU fired 30 shots at the Sharks goal but was unable to get past junior goalkeeper Rachel Elliott (Amherst, NH).  Elliott made several outstanding stops and finished with 17 saves.

The Sharks attempted 12 shots on goal, and were stopped by two PSU freshmen goalkeepers, Angelina LaBroad (Hampton, NH) and Stephanie Regina (Howell, NJ).  Sophomore defender Katie Foley (Rochester, NH) "played a tremendous match, chasing down speedy forwards and propelling the shutout on goal," said Head Coach Erica Mastrogiacomo.

"As a staff we were pleased with the result," said Mastrogiacomo. "PSU is a very aggressive team that attacks with their fast outside midfielders. It was a physical battle with dangerous scoring opportunities for both sides. We know our players gave everything they had and played with gumption for the entire match." Mastrogiacomo also noted the efforts of Anna Stella (Sharon, MA), who combined with Brooke MacKenzie (Mansfield, MA) and Allie Megna (Plymouth, MA) for several chances on goal. Anya Bottaro (Winchester, MA), Kelley Saucier (Waterville, ME) and Emily DiNuovo (Palmer, MA) provided a strong physical presence in the midfield.

Simmons Soccer's record now stands at 2-2-1. The Sharks will take to the pitch on Saturday, September 13 at noon, away at the Wellesley College Invitational.
