Simmons Soccer Goes International for Spring Break

While the preseason may be five months away, the Simmons College soccer team is getting a jump on things this spring break with an international trip to Italy.

While the preseason may be five months away, the Simmons College soccer team is getting a jump on things this spring break with an international trip to Italy. "We are looking forward to be positive ambassadors of the United States, Simmons College, and our local communities as we tour Italy and compete internationally," head coach Erica Mastrogiacomo. "It will prove to be an educational and cultural experience that will produce memories these student-athletes will carry with them."

The Sharks will have a full itinerary of soccer games, practices, and cultural experiences during their spring break trip. They will visit Rome, Norcia, Gubbio, Assisi and Perugia during their journey. The team will play two international matches, and have five training sessions in the historic city of Norcia. In Rom they will visit the Vatican, the Colosseum, and Trevi Fountain. They will also attend a professional soccer match between AC Milan and AS Roma.

"Soccer is a way of life in Italy," said Mastrogiacomo it will be an overwhelming experience to see how dedicated and loyal the fans are and how much passion and excitement there is for the sport of soccer." The team is set to leave Saturday March 8th, and return Monday March 17th.
