Chausse's Eight Points Propels Lacrosse to 20-5 Victory Over Elms College

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Senior attacker Julia Chausse tied her career single-game best registering eight points to guide Simmons lacrosse (4-6, 2-2 GNAC) to the 20-5 win over Elms College (1-2, 1-1 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday evening.

Chausse got the scoring started finding the back of the net less than a minute into the contest. After the Blazers tied it up seconds later, graduate senior Riley Wasiuk and junior Maddie Desimio-Maloney gave the Sharks at 3-1 advantage. Late in the period following an Elms score, senior Kat Wood and junior Layla Drinkwater got into the action with Simmons' fourth and fifth goals, respectively.

The Sharks offense was firing on all cylinders, tallying a consistent five goals per period on the night. Chausse began the second quarter dishing out an assist to Wasiuk 49 seconds into the period, before concluding the half the same way – tallying an assist to Wood to send the Sharks into the break with a 10-3 lead. In the middle, the southern Massachusetts native added her second goal of the game, while Desimio-Maloney notched a goal and an assist. 

There was no let up by Sharks offense when the team return to the field at the start of the second half, outscoring the Blazers, 5-1. While Chausse notched her third goal of the game, Desimio-Maloney added a pair and first-year Lauren Krupnikoff got into the scoring with her third goal of the season.

In the final stanza of the night, Desimio-Maloney added another two goals to record a single-game best six goals, while Chausse sealed the victory connecting with graduate senior Emily Duffley for her first goal of the season.
