Castle Nets GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior goalie Katie Castle secured Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week honors announced Monday afternoon.

The Maine native guided Simmons to a 2-0 week, which included a thrilling 15-12 victory over the west coast institution Occidental College. Against Occidental, Castle entered the game with 23 minutes remaining the contest and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for the last 14 minutes of the contest, registering five saves and a 62.5 save percentage to pick up her first win of the season.

Castle picked up her second win of the season, playing the entire 60 minutes in a convincing 16-1 win over Lasell University, where she notched eight saves for an 88.9% save percentage.

Simmons returns to the field tonight hosting Salve Regina University at 7 p.m.
