Eight Lacrosse Student-Athletes Earn GNAC Post-Season Recognition

WINTHROP, Mass. – Following a program-best 16-3 record, including a 12-1 mark against conference opponents, eight Simmons lacrosse players received Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) recognition, the league announced on Monday.

The seven honorees is the most the Sharks have had in their program history. Graduate senior Abby Stoller and junior Emi Boedeker led the way receiving First Team nods. Sophomore Julia Chausse, senior Nicole Elliott, sophomore Marita Nothacker and junior Riley Wasiuk earned Second Team honors, while Chausse, Nothacker and Kat Wood were named to the All-Rookie Team.

The nation's leader in free-position goals, graduate senior Abby Stoller led the conference with 88 goals and led an offense that finished the season 15th in the country in scoring margin. Early in the season, the Wayland, Massachusetts native registered a career single-game high nine points, tallying six goal and three assists against Salem State University. 

Junior Emi Boedeker joined Stoller on the All-Conference First Team at defense. The Portland, Maine controlled the pace of the game, ranked ninth amongst GNAC leaders in draw controls, while led a Shark defense that was fifth in the nation in scoring defense and 16th in caused turnovers. Boedeker turned her game up a notch in the post-season to earn GNAC All-Tournament Team accolades. 

A two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week, junior Julia Chausse earned Second Team honors as well as an All-Rookie Team nod as one of the Sharks' main offensive catalysts. Ranked in the top-50 in the nation in assists, Chausse broke the Simmons' program record for assists, finishing the season with 39 – third amongst the conference leaders. 

Anchoring a defense ranked fifth in the country, senior goalkeeper Nicole Elliott earned Second Team honors for the first time in her collegiate career. The New Jersey native registered a career year in net, posting a 16-3 record, while registering 106 saves and a 7.33 goals-against average – which put her in the top-10 amongst the nation's leaders.

Hailing from Philadelphia, Pa, sophomore Marita Nothacker also earned Second Team recognition as well as All-Rookie Team honors as an integral member of a top-10 scoring defense and a top-20 scoring offense. Midway through the season, she registered a career-game in a 20-8 win over Dean, tallying a single-game best eight goals and two assists for 10 points, while also winning 10 draw controls.

A two-sport athlete, junior Riley Wasiuk rounded out the quartet of Sharks selected to the Second Team. The Rutland, Massachusetts native led a Sharks defense that was ranked fifth in the nation in scoring defense and 16th in caused turnovers. Wasiuk registered a career single-game six in the Sharks' 18-11 quarterfinal win against No. 7 Lasell, which helped secure GNAC All-Tournament Team honors.

First-year Kat Wood rounded out the Sharks receiving All-Conference honors. Another core member of the offense that saw the Sharks ranked amongst the top-20 in the country, Wood was selected to the GNAC All-Rookie Team, finishing with 28 goals and nine assists for 37 points as a first-year.
