FRANKLIN, Mass. – Sophomore Marita Nothacker registered a career single-game high eight goals as Simmons lacrosse (10-2, 7-1 GNAC) overpowered Dean College (3-7, 3-5 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, Tuesday afternoon.

Nothacker scored an unassisted goal in the first minute to set the tone of the game. Less than a minute later, sophomore attacker Cameron Richards successfully scored a free-position goal to give the Sharks a two-goal lead. Within 30 seconds of each other, Nothacker connected with first-year attacker Kat Wood before burying her second goal of the game on feed from sophomore attacker Julia Chausse. Junior midfielder Emi Boedeker was the fourth different Simmons player to score in the first period, scoring at the nine-minute mark to give Simmons a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs snapped a 7-0 Shark run, finding the back of the net two minutes before the end of the quarter.

A foul call on Simmons in the early minutes of the second quarter allowed Dean to score off a free-position shot. The Bulldogs were able to hold the Sharks from scoring until the last three minutes of the quarter when Richards connected with Nothacker to re-ignite the offense.

Simmons scored three times in the final 90 seconds of the second quarter. Nothacker found Chausse to put the Sharks up 9-2, before first-year attacker Maddie Desimio-Maloney found junior Liz Krenicky to take a 10-2 lead. Dean scored with 33 seconds remaining in the half, but Simmons had the last word with Nothacker finding the back of the net on a free-position to an 11-3 lead.

Dean opened the third quarter with a goal to bring the score to 11-4. The Sharks answered registering six unanswered goals, including three by Nothacker to take a commanding 17-4 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs opened the fourth period with back-to-back goals, but the Shark offense was far too potent. Boedecker broke up Dean's threat with her third goal of the game to re-gain a 12-goal, 18-6, lead for the Sharks. Within the last five minutes, Dean scored a pair of goals to cut the deficit to 10, but Chausse and Nothacker capped off the day with goals in the final minute.
