STANDISH, Maine – In a midweek, Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest, Simmons lacrosse (5-2, 2-1 GNAC) was handed its first conference loss, falling to Saint Joseph's (ME), 14-13, in overtime, Tuesday evening.

Graduate senior Abby Stoller led all scorers with five goals and an assist for six points. Junior Sammi Hogan registered her third hat-trick of the season – and second straight – tallying three goals, while also adding an assist for four points.

Less than a minute into the game, first-year attacker Kat Wood connected with junior Lauren Whitman to put the Sharks on the scoreboard early. Graduate senior Abby Stoller found the back of the net for her 34th goal of the season to increase the Simmons lead to 2-0.

The Monks responded scoring a pair of back-to-back goals within the next six minutes to tie the game at two. But Stoller answered with 2:50 remaining in the first quarter scoring her second goal of the game to re-gain the lead for the Sharks, 3-2.

Junior attacker Sammi Hogan opened the second quarter with her first goal of the game to give Simmons a two-goal, 4-2 lead, once again. Saint Joseph's answered with a string of four straight goals to take their first lead of the game. The Monks looked poised to go into halftime with a two-goal, 6-4, advantage, but Stoller connected on another free position goal to cut the deficit to one, 6-5.

Coming out of halftime, the Sharks scored two quick scores at the start of the third quarter. Whitman registered the equalizer a minute and half in, before Wood connected with Liz Krenicky for to Simmons back on top, 7-6.

After the Monks, scored at the 10-minute mark to the tie the game once again, Hogan scored her second goal of the game to put the Sharks up 8-7. Moments later on a woman-up opportunity, Hogan found Wood to give Simmons a two-goal lead. But it was short-lived as Saint Joseph's scored twice in the waning minutes of the quarter to head into the final period of regulation tied at nine.

Like the majority of the previous three quarters, the fourth was back-and-forth tilt. The Monks scored twice to go ahead 11-9, but two quick goals by Stoller within a minute of each other knotted the score back up.

With under five minutes to play, it appeared as momentum was siding with the Monks as they took a 13-11 lead. However, Wood connected with sophomore Julia Chausse to climb to within one at 2:23. Twenty-two seconds later Hogan scored the equalizer and sent the game into overtime.
